Another day, another meal. The cafeteria was mostly empty, though there were a few stragglers around. It was exactly how Aspen liked it best. Quiet. She didn't have to sit there and watch the numerous teams joking around with their friends, talking about the latest tests or who they think is attractive. She didn't have to see her fellow classmates and be reminded of all the things she lost. Ventus was gone. Nero dead. It was just her and Indigo. Half of a whole. She had a new team now. Two virtual strangers that got thrust upon her like they expected her to just move on. Just accept these two as part of the close-knit group that is a combat team. Follow someone else's lead when just a few short months ago she was following Nero. She missed them. Their stoic, yet intelligent leader. Her Squirrel-boy partner. They were gone, and yet she was still there. It was almost worse with Ventus. She knew what had happened to Nero. It was heartbreaking, but at least there was closure. At least she could eventually heal. She didn't even know if Ventus was still alive. That hurt most of all.

Aspen picked apart the pieces of her orange, taking far longer than necessary to eat the fruit. Her eyes were glazed over; it was obvious that she was lost in thought. She couldn't help but to recall the last time the four of them were seated in the cafeteria together. They were so excited. They had just learned that their team, Team NAVI, was chosen to fight in the tournament. It was the chance of a lifetime, and they got to experience it. The excitement was so thick even the students next to them that they had never met before were excited for them. Aspen could clearly remember insisting on checking out each of their weapons, making sure Nero and Indigo's weapons were in perfect, tip top condition. Squirrel-boy, of course, wouldn't let her work on his precious baby, even though she just knew she could make it function so much more smoothly.

It was probably for the best that nobody was around. Aspen would probably not be the best of company. Of course, for her sake, it would probably have been better for her to find someone to spend time with. Then again, it wasn't as though she had a lot of close friends at Haven. She had barely managed to finish her first year after the Fall. Sure, she knew some of her other classmates by name, but that was about it. The social part of her wanted to make new friends, but she no longer knew where to begin. Any time she would try, all she could think about was her lost team. They were her best friends. Her family. Her only saving grace was that she still had Indigo. Well, whatever part of him was left behind, that is.

Aspen looked around the cafeteria. The tables were starting to fill up a little more, though there were still seats available. She then glanced at the empty seats around her, wondering if anyone would join her. It was getting to be about dinner time. It wouldn't take long for the cafeteria to start really filling up, to the point that there would inevitably be some students joining her. Who knows, maybe it would be good for the pixie-like girl to make some new friends.

Indigo Match
Don't lose hope. Like a match in the dark, Burn Bright.
Indigo's eyes darted to his scroll. Watching in horror as his aura steadily depleted. The weight of the door was tremendous, despite his strength Indigo knew he wouldn't hold out much longer. The door would slam shut trapping everyone on the other side. He braced himself, ready to die so as many people could escape as possible. As each person wordlessly passed him they vanished into the black space behind Indigo.

Then it was just him, straining against the door mechanism, only a sliver of Aura left. Nero faded into view, moving at a leisurely pace. Indigo tried to call out to him to run, to get through and lead the others to safety. His voice felt like razors in his throat but still no sound escaped. Nero's features came into focus, a smile on his face as the Grimm followed close on his heels. Indigo could see their glowing eyes and feel their hot breath.

Nero came to a stop in front of Indigo, placing a hand on his chest just as his Aura shattered. Indigo felt pressure on his chest and he locked eyes with Nero as he began falling. The eyes staring back at him were the eyes of a corpse. The door slammed shut on Nero like the jaws of the Beowulves that crowded behind him and everything was black.

Indigo thrashed in his sheets, jerking himself awake. He was drenched in cold sweat and his pulse thundered in his ears. Another nightmare. He thought, trying to physically shake the empty stare of his former partner from his mind as he untangled himself from his sheets. Indigo ran a hand through his bedhead and reached for his scroll. Aspen would kill him for sleeping so late. He'd gone straight to the dorms after classes, making some excuse about needing to study. He'd probably meant it too but he ended up sleeping the entire time. It was nearly dinnertime, which reminded indigo of how little he'd eaten that day... If he was being honest Indigo had barely eaten all week. He rolled out of bed and checked his stash drawer for a protein bar... Empty. Of course it was.

That settled it, the cafeteria it was. He changed out of his uniform, which he'd fallen asleep in and tried to make his hair look presentable before stumbling out of Team Rain's dorm. A few students he didn't recognize gaze him an odd look as they passed but Indigo was beyond caring. Let them stare, let them talk behind his back. Indigo knew better than anyone that he was the one who should have died that day.

By the time he got there the cafeteria was already filling up with students. Awesome... He got his food and looked around for somewhere to sit that wasn't too crowded. After a moment he spotted a familiar face sitting alone. He took a deep breath and fixed a smile on his face. Fake it 'till you make it. Or so his mom always said. He felt a pang in his chest. Juno was a Huntress, so Indigo was used to her being in the field for weeks at a time but it had been months with no word. He could have really used one of their heart-to-hearts over cereal like when he was a kid. He looked down at his tray. the cuisine at Haven was pretty much gourmet but cereal seemed way more appealing to him in that moment.

He slid into the seat opposite Aspen, his smile feeling more hollow than ever. Aspen was the one person who should understand but he still couldn't bring himself to talk to her about it. What good was he to her broken? Indigo was supposed to be the one keeping everyone else's hopes up. What good was if if his own hope died? "Hey Aspen. Where's the rest of the team?"

Weapon
Gemelle It is a double crescent axe in it’s standard, melee form. This axe has half circle blades on both sides of a blue metal handle that’s roughly two feet in length. The blades themselves are highly detailed, with elaborate drawings of ivy and flowers on each side of both blades. The only difference in the two are the colors, one is silver, and the other is gold. In addition, she has enhanced the blades with Dust. The silver one uses ice Dust, and the gold uses fire Dust. This weapon has the ability to fold and transform into a double barrelled shotgun. It can either launch regular bullets, or it can launch one ice and one fire Dust bullet. The gun can hold eight rounds per barrel, six of which are normal and two of which are Dust enhanced. The gun has to be chambered before each shot, so it can’t fire as quickly as most other weapons.
Semblance
Regrowth This semblance allows the user to manipulate plant life in a twenty foot area around them. The types of plants that can be manipulated vary widely, and include wood, vines, and parts of plants, such as leaves and flowers. This does not extend to the products of plants, such as seeds and fruits. Through the use of this manipulation, the user can bind and attack their opponents, as well as create protective walls and such. The main limitation on this ability is the flora available in the area, as only what's nearby can be used, and only to the extent that it's been grown.

All I ever wanted to do

It was yet another bad day in a series of bad days for Kalika. She still wasn't getting along too well with her teammates; they were so distant sometimes, it was like they weren't even there. And that wasn't a good thing, really. It left her alone a lot; alone with her thoughts. That could be dangerous, especially since she tended to draw away from people and do her own thing. They didn't work well as a team, and this was part of the reason. She needed friends, not to be left alone, though it was doubtful that she herself would ever realize that.

Today specifically, Kalika had been completely trashed in combat practice by someone from another team, and she was feeling it. She never was as strong in places that she couldn't use her Semblance, but she still shouldn't have been beaten so easily. That meant that she needed to get more comfortable with combat against actual people, rather than just against Grimm, especially with how things were going in the world. Hunters and Huntresses were supposed to keep people safe from the dangers outside the Kingdom's wall, but nowadays... now they had to fight other threats. White Fang terrorist attacks and whatever it was that caused the fall of Beacon were very real threats that meant that she would most likely end up fighting real people in the future. Not just monsters. And that was a terrifying idea.

She'd spent the rest of the day outside the city, taking her frustrations out on Grimm and trying to get even a little better with fighting without her Semblance. She had to get back to school eventually, though, so she had started heading back when she saw the sun was setting. She'd been gone most of the day, and hadn't eaten since breakfast, so she begrudgingly started heading towards the dining hall. She didn't generally like eating there during normal dinner hours, as it was very crowded and busy, but there was really nothing she could do to circumvent that now. If she didn't eat in the dining hall, she would have to go and buy herself some sort of food, and she couldn't afford to do that. Some people were blessed to have their parents paying for things while they were at school, but she wasn't. Her parents didn't even know where she was, and that's how she wanted to keep things.

She shuffled through the line and picked up a sandwich and fries before looking around at the packed room. She didn't see anyone from her team in the room, and the choices she had for seating were very limited. She let out an annoyed huff and walked over to a half empty table where a couple people of her year were sitting. She didn't try and be friendly or anything, she just walked over and looked at the two, her face blank. "Do you mind if I sit here?" she asked in her normal monotone, hoping that they said yes only so she could sit and eat quickly without having to ask anyone else if she could sit with them. It was frustrating enough for her to ask once; it was rough not really knowing anyone else in her year.

A familiar voice drew Aspen's attention from the meal she was so diligently focused on. Indigo. The only other person who truly understood her pain. If only he would talk to her about it. Instead, he's been nothing but vague. She knew what he was going through, so why wouldn't he just -talk to her-. They were both hurting, didn't he see that? She bit her lip, however, and decided to just be there for him in whatever way he needed. If that was simply a friendly face to take his mind off the situation, then so be it. "Heya Indigo!" she gave him the biggest grin she could. "I haven't the slightest idea. They disappeared right after class." nevermind that she was the one that disappeared. They may be nice people, who really knew, but they just weren't her team. Team RAIN. Must be some sort of joke. Loss is a part of the job, sure, but come on. They were just kids. Yet they were expected to just move on as if nothing happened. A mismatched group of kids suddenly thrust upon one another in the wake of tragedy.

Before conversation could continue further, an unfamiliar face joined their small pity party. Aspen vaguely recognized her, but couldn't even begin to remember her name. "Oh. Sure." she shrugged. "I'm Aspen, by the way. Aspen Bell. This is my teamm-....partner. Indigo." she stumbled over her words. It seemed so wrong. Squirrel-boy was her partner. Not Indigo. Indigo was partners with....no. She wouldn't even allow herself to think his name. That was just asking for trouble. Instead, she put on a smile. "I remember you from class today. That was rough. Bad luck on your part, getting put up against that kid." she sympathized. Aspen wasn't the strongest physical combatant herself, so she understood what it was like to have some trouble in person vs person combat. Fighting Grimm was way simpler.

Indigo Match
When I was King, I was King. We had everything. When am I, when am I, gonna start living?
Indigo merely nodded in acknowledgement of Aspen’s response. Some team Rain, then again was Indigo much better? He’d bailed right after class too. The teen felt a pang of guilt at that, he knew he’d been pushing her away and yet she still stuck by him. She was a better friend than he felt he deserved. He had to do better. Indigo wasn’t the only one who lost people. He couldn’t let it stop him or hold him back.

Just then another student arrived, asking to sit with the melancholy duo. Indigo faintly recognized her but couldn’t put a name to the face and gave her a smile in greeting. He let Aspen handle the introductions however his face visibly fell as Aspen stumbled over his introduction. He knew exactly the reason for her mistake. Aspen’s partner was gone, Indigo’s was dead, and there was nothing the remaining members of Team Navy could do about it. Aspen mentioned combat class and Iigo remembered where he recognized the other girl from. ”Nice to meet you, you’re Kalika right?” He knew he was in his year, even though they hadn’t had a chance to meet properly before then, but he didn’t know much about her.

He tried to recall the details of the girl’s match in class earlier but he admittedly hadn’t been paying much attention. His attention was elsewhere, and despite being the strongest 1x1 combatant on his team the second-year hadn’t been volunteering much in any of his classes. Despite everything he was learning, he still wasn’t getting the answers he craved. He was getting frustrated with the curriculum. Every day wasted was another day the Grimm grew stronger or the White Fang gained influence or who knew what? Indigo had returned to Haven in hopes it would make him ready for whatever came next. He was starting to feel like there was no such thing as “ready” for what was coming. What he didn’t want to admit was that he didn’t know what to do about it, so staying at Haven and learning whatever he could was the best option for the time being.

”I thought you had some good moves. I mean… That’s why we’re here right? To learn, so that in a real fight we don’t lose, so we can protect people.” Exactly what Indigo had failed to do. His words felt hollow to him but he tried his best to reassure the other student. He shrugged and ran a hand through his messy hair. He almost refrained from saying more in case it was sore subject but after a moment he continued. ”It actually looked like you had him for a bit there but then… I don’t know. It was almost like you were holding back? What happened?” His tone was one of genuine curiosity, even if his words were a little tactless. Battle-talk was probably the only time bits of the old Indigo even shone through lately, but hey. He was trying.

Kalika quickly took a seat as soon as Aspen said that she could. She nodded at Indigo, figuring that since he knew who she was that she didn't need to answer what her name was. She shrugged a little when Aspen mentioned the fight earlier; she didn't want to think about it. She had never been the strongest fighter, but she was at the top of the class when it came to her studies. It was the only thing keeping her in the school, sadly; she would need to ship up in the fighting department if she wanted to be able to continue to stay at Haven.

She quickly started eating, barely listening to Indigo talk about fighting. She didn't particularly care for talking with other people, and fighting people was even harder. She was decent enough when it came to fighting Grimm. Her parents had taught her basic self defense since she was small, after all. But she'd planned to go into the military. A military that didn't think it needed to fight against other people until fairly recently. She wasn't really geared to do so, and she didn't really care to do so. She felt that fighting was really only necessary when your life was in danger; she abhorred unnecessary violence. Plus, things were so much harder to do when you didn't have your Semblance to help back you up. Because she needed plants around to use her Semblance, she was pretty SOL when it came to fighting in an arena. That was the main reason that she had issues during the fight.

She looked up at the boy's question, her eyes flat and cold. She didn't tend to show emotion at all, it generally made things more complicated. She didn't like it when things were complicated. Things were easier when you didn't have to deal with emotion of any kind. Sure, it made it harder to relate to people, but at least she didn't care when they were rude and angry and made her leave. She didn't feel as mush pain when it came to loss. She did need to answer his question, though, or else they might make her leave the table, and she'd have to talk to more people. "I don't like fighting. I only do so when I have to." She hoped that she could leave it at that; her losing in front of everyone in class was something she really didn't feel like talking about.

Of course, the conversation turned to fighting. It seemed so futile. If she had the choice, Aspen would have walked away from Haven. Walked straight back to her little hometown village and spend all day making dust weaponry with her father. But, that just wasn't an option anymore. She had seen too much. Her father claimed he knew tragedy in her mother leaving them without a word, but that was nothing compared to the things she'd seen. She and Indigo knew actual tragedy. Aspen forced her thoughts away from that path, and back to the topic at hand.

Kalika expressed her dislike of fighting, and Aspen had to interject. "I'm with you on that. But I'm pretty sure we're past the point of not liking to fight. We don't fight under our teacher's supervision, we won't learn. And that's how people.....die...." she commented. She hated fighting just as much. But, Kalika wasn't there. Aspen would remember if she was. After going through the Fall, her perspective on things changed. "We just aren't strong enough yet. But we will be." she nodded. "For them." She had to go through with schooling. For Nero. For Ventus. She had to become a huntress they would be proud of. And she had to stick with Indigo. He was just as lost as she was, and she refused to let him wither away under the pressure.

When I was King, I was King, we had everything. When am I, when am I, gonna start living?
Indigo frowned at Kalika's response but Aspen was the first to speak up. Aspen was right, they had to get stronger. Indigo wouldn't let anyone else die because of him. He gripped the edge of his tray, his knuckles turning white. If he'd been stronger...

"Nero let's move we're running out of time."
"How are you gonna get out once everyone's through."
"It doesn't matter just go. I can't hold it much longer, you'll be trapped."
"I'm not leaving you behind Indigo."

Images from the fall of beacon flashed before Indigo's eyes. He forced himself to relax, nothing good would come from breaking down in the cafeteria. Indigo sighed and nodded. For them... For everyone who was lost at the fall. Indigo would do whatever he could to make things right.

Indigo looked at both the girls, trying to order his thoughts in a way that would make sense when spoken aloud. "Whether or not we like to fight doesn't matter anymore. Remnant needs us, whether we're ready or not. Kalika, what made you want to be a huntress?" He wasn't aiming to sound rude, nor was he about to gang up on the quiet girl. His question was calm and his tone thoughtful. There were many kinds of Heroes, he wanted to know what kind she wanted to be. Otherwise what good was attending a combat school?

Kalika shoveled more food in her mouth, wanting to get out of this room as quickly as possible. It was already awkward enough sitting with people she didn't really know, and it was getting more awkward as they talked about fighting and such. She'd just lost a fight terribly; what would make them think that she wanted to talk about it more? This was a mess and a half, and she wanted to try and avoid getting even more splattered with it. She looked up at Aspen, though, when she mentioned that she needed to be stronger for a mysterious 'them'. She vaguely recalled there being two more people on their team, but so many people had died, moved, and dropped out, she wasn't sure why they weren't around any longer, and she really didn't care.

Her gaze switched to Indigo when he asked her a question, her eyes blank. Why did she want to become a huntress? Did she really trust him with that information? Did she really even know why she wanted to be one? She honestly didn't know what to say. The reason she gave herself for being at this school was that it would give her the opportunity to become someone important, someone that her parents would notice. But she'd always wanted to become someone that fought for what was right. So what was that base desire she had? Why had she started down this path? She truly didn't know. "I'm not sure that it's any of your business."

All it takes is faith, trust, and a little pixie dust
Aspen scratched her head, looking from Kalika, to Indigo, then back to Kalika. None of their business? Isn't that like, the go-to topic of conversation around there? It was the one thing they all had in common, no matter their upbringing, or lifestyle before they got to Haven. They were there to become Hunters. "Well. Obviously to help protect people and fight Grimm! Same as everyone." she shrugged, trying to lighten the mood. She didn't want any sort of heavy conversation. It was obviously a sore subject for the female, so it was best to move on to something a little more dinner-friendly. Without knowing what else to do, she moved on to the one topic she knew best. Weaponry.

"So. Kalika, was it?" she confirmed the female's name. "What kind of weapon do you use?" figuring it would go over better if she started by sharing instead of just demanding information, Aspen took the metal pack off, and set it on the table. "This is my baby. Faith and Trust." she pulled the wrench off of it's attachment to show it off before pressing a hidden button. The button let go a release that caused two metallic wings to spring outward. The metal designs were streaked with piping of green, the dust within powering their flight capabilities. "The greatest weapon alive! Followed closely by Scintilla Evanescent, of course." she laughed, throwing Indigo a small compliment. She hadn't done much upgrading on his weapon yet, partially because of how touchy he was about it. He was almost as bad as Squirrel-boy in that regard.

Indigo Match
When I was King, I was King. We had Everything. When am I, when am I gonna start living?
Indigo looked between both of the girls. He wasn't entirely sure what to make of Kalika, or her response for that matter. But if she didn't want to talk about it, that was her business. He felt that she was rather unsubtly telling him to screw off. But hey, if that's how she wanted to play it after asking to sit with them, that was fine with Indigo. He ran his hand through his hair, his silver eyes hardening. He was lying to himself if he said Kalika's answer didn't bother him, but he didn't sense any hostility in her response.

He sat back in his chair. Unsure what to say, he simply remained silent. Lately Indigo was a shell of himself, he hardly ate and only slept when he was too exhausted to do otherwise. The rest of his time was spent in the library or on the training fields, pushing his body past it's limit time and again, overtaxing his semblance. He was frustrated by his own limitations but unsure how to surpass them. That only made him angrier with himself. And lately he couldn't feel anything but that anger.

He looked down at his plate as Aspen started speaking, even though he'd barely touched his meal he wasn't feeling hungry. He pushed the food on his tray around with his fork as he began to get antsy. Indigo's sulking was interrupted as Aspen pulled out her weapon, causing him to look up form his tray. Indigo's weapons were, of course back in his locker, but he knew how much Aspen liked tinkering with her gear so it was no surprise to him that Faith and Trust were on her person. She mentioned Scintilla Evanescent, the weapons he'd worked so hard on under his adoptive mom's tutelage. The same mom who saved him from certain death. The same mom who he should be out looking for right now. Who had zero leads on locating. Indigo felt his heart racing. "Aspen. Can we not right now?" He immediately regretted snapping at her. His silver gaze dropped apologetically. "Look... I'm sorry..."

Great... Not only was he snapping at the only close friend he had left, he was probably making a terrible first impression on Kalika. Indigo had half a mind to leave before he made things worse.

All I ever wanted to do
Was be loved and wanted by you.
I’m not your puppet.
Kalika pulled out her weapon and was getting ready to show off the shotgun axe when Indigo snapped at the other girl. She thought that was strange; they'd finally found something that they could all talk about, as they all had to have some sort of weapon, but he apparently didn't like the subject. She didn't know why that could be, unless something bad happened to him in the past. Something that made him no longer want to fight. But if he didn't want to fight, why was he here? Why was he asking her why she wanted to be a huntress if he didn't even want to fight?

The girl slid her weapon away and frowned at the boy, her eyes locking onto his. She wasn't going to let him being rude slide. Aspen was obviously having a hard time because of something, and if he was her partner, then he needed to stop acting like an ass and help her. If he had some issues too, then that just meant that they could work together to help fix each other. That was the point of having a partner. Some people just needed someone else to help them through things.

The girl glanced between the two, crossing her arms. She hated having to be a mediator, but sometimes it was necessary. "I'm not sure what's going on between the two of you, but it's obviously something that needs to be dealt with. Now, I'm willing to listen and try to help you two figure things out, but you're going to have to actually talk to each other and not beat around the bush."

She sat back and looked between the two, waiting for their answers. She knew that she didn't know them well, but that's what made her a perfect mediator. She wasn't emotionally involved with them. If they knew her better, they would know that this was a very rare offer from the girl. She didn't like dealing with emotional people, but at least she could try to teach them to deal with emotion.

All it takes is faith, trust, and a little pixie dust
Aspen felt her eyes beginning to water, and she closed them tightly, willing herself not to cry no matter what she did. Things were difficult for Indigo, she had to remind herself. Even so, didn't he realize that they were in this together? The two of them were all each other had left. They still hadn't actually talked about what happened. Aspen knew that he blamed himself for everything that happened, just as she knew Nero would insist that he didn't. All she wanted to do was try to take his mind off of things, pull him from his funk and get him feeling like himself again. She figured bringing up some good, old-fashioned weapon talk would be just the thing. Instead, he snapped at her. She knew he was angry about what happened, but since when did he start to hate her too? "I...I just thought..." she sniffled a little, trying to keep her composure. (and failing miserably) "You always love talking about weapons. Scintilla Evanescent is your baby! I mean, hell. You hardly even let ME touch it, and that's my -job-" she slowly shifted from sadness to annoyance. "There was nothing I could do, Indy. Neither of us could save him. He made his own choice. Not me. He wouldn't want to see us falling apart too." she gave him her characteristic smile. "Besides. We've gotta show the world what we're capable of. Gotta get strong enough to go find Squirrel-boy and bring him back." She was still angry with her former partner for not returning to the school. He may not even know what happened to Nero!

It was only after she finished that she realized that Kalika was speaking. Willing to help them? Could anyone who wasn't at the Fall understand well enough to actually help with the aftermath? She really appreciated the thought, however. "Thanks, Kalika. Things have just been rough since getting back from the Fall."

Indigo Match
When i was King, i was King, we had everything. When am I, when am I, gonna start living?
Normally Indigo was all for weapon talk, to him a weapon was an extension of its wielder's personality. There were things you could learn about someone from their weapon that conversation couldn't tell you. But every time he held Scintilla Evanescent in the last few months reminded him that his mother, the woman who taught him to use it, who saved his life, was still missing. Indigo felt miserable for snapping at Aspen, but seeing the look of hurt on her face made something inside him crack. He'd screwed up, again. He wanted to retreat inside his wall, harden himself, to direct the anger he felt at himself outwards in every direction. Aspen's words, through barely held back tears turned took the crack that had formed and caused his wall to crumble. The feelings anger, regret, loss, and helplessness washed over him welling up and stinging at his eyes with the threat of tears. "I'm sorry."

Kalika wanted to help, Aspen wanted to help, but what could any of them do? Indigo was trying so hard to believe that he could make a difference but it felt like nothing he did made any difference. Team Navy had believed, Indigo had believed, they were ready for anything, they had been so wrong. "I wasn't strong enough Aspen." He was no longer able to hold back his tears. "All I had to do was hold a door, how hard is that to screw up? Hold the door long enough for everyone to get through. Ventus... We don't even know if he's still alive or even wants to be found. For all we know he..." Indigo's breath trembled, and put his face in his hands. What if Ventus had joined the White Fang? He'd been avoiding even letting himself think it, that his best friend could have betrayed all of them and turned to fighting with the enemy. "My Mom has been missing since the Fall, no contact. She's never in the field this long without getting at least some communication to someone..."

He felt pathetic, and ashamed for doubting the people he cared about most. More than anything he doubted himself. He looked at his hands, knowing that he was torturing himself but not quite sure how to stop. He knew one thing though, Aspen didn't deserve to be put through hell because of him. She was hurting too, he'd known that from the start and he still tried to shoulder everything himself. He was being selfish and stupid and he knew it. But things couldn't just go back to the way they were before, not after everything. Indigo wiped at his eyes, embarrassed by the tears.

"What is strong enough? How will we know when we're there? I just know I have to do something." The problem was, Indigo had no idea what to do. Where to even start? He had no leads on his mom, or Ventus.

All I ever wanted to do

Kalika looked between the two, feeling more and more awkward as she did so. This seemed to be something that the two needed to discuss alone, and while she wanted to try and help the two, she knew that she couldn't really do so. While they had all been students together for two years now, that didn't mean that she knew them or their teammates. She was doing good to know her teammates, after all.

But, she couldn't back out now. The girl glanced between the two with a sigh, shaking her head a little. She gave Aspen a small, sympathetic smile. God, she hated dealing with people. "The fall was hard on everyone, and it seems to have hit you more than a lot of people in this school. I'm not sure what happened, or how much you've lost, but you still have each other. And things aren't going to get better if you don't talk to each other."

She looked between the two again, sending a short glare at Indigo. He seemed to be the main problem here. Aspen was willing to talk, she needed it. But he was holding it all in, and that was something he couldn't do if he wanted to heal. He was going to keep letting out short explosive bursts if he tried to keep holding things in. "You're only as strong as the person you're working with. And that strength comes from trust. If you can't work things out and learn to trust each other again, then this won't be the last time you lose things."

She didn't know why she was doing this, why she was trying to help these two. She wasn't good at dealing with people on her own, and she could barely stand dealing with her teammates. She really didn't know how she was going to help them if she couldn't even help herself.
