Escape was a difficult thing. So far, Aiuya had managed to throw off the members of the White Fang who were trying to track her down, but unfortunately she hadn't come out unscathed. They'd sent a few of their best people after her, and she'd had to take them down... Which wasn't the most difficult thing, given she was a trained Huntress. But what made things worse was coupling everything with a couple of swamp-dwelling Grimm, and all of a sudden you had a handful of things to deal with and not enough resources to dedicate to it.

...Or however that worked, anyway.

The Grimm had proven easy, with Aiuya able to quickly distract and dispatch them; but in the process, her Aura had been weakened, and she found herself face-to-face with not one, not even two, but three members of the White Fang, all attacking her relentlessly. She shouldn't have been surprised; she was, after all, one of the upper lieutenants in the Mistral division. She'd managed to take two down, but the third had scored a few hits on her, one gouging the muscle in the side of her abdomen, and the other slicing a shallow, but seeping wound down her forearm. Luckily, it seemed, she hadn't had any vital arteries hit, though the wound in her side was bleeding what seemed to be an absurd amount.

And so, she found herself wandering through the swamps in Mistral, leaving an unfortunate trail of blood. She was trying to get as much distance as possible, one hand clutching at her side, the other waving almost wildly in front of her, in an attempt to stop her from running into anything. She had a rough idea of the direction of civilization, but if she didn't handle her wounds now, she wasn't likely to make it that far. Finding herself a comfortable spot between where the roots of a tree were split, she almost collapsed to the ground, hiding in a small niche below one of the trees. Frantically she pulled a long strip of fabric from her pouch -- part of a scarf she'd grabbed in her rush to escape -- and tore a section off it, using her teeth and free hand to make a tourniquet tied around her arm. She then wrapped the length around her forearm tightly, using it to catch most of the blood. She had to get her wounds dealt with fast, or she'd bleed out before she could even get some sort of proper attention.

If she'd be able to, of course.

Taking another deep breath, she reached back and pulled out a length of gauze, yet another knick-knack she'd grabbed in a frenzy as she was trying to get out. She tore a length off and folded it, pressing it into the wound; hopefully, it would help stop the bleeding there. She winced in pain each time she touched it, her breath coming in short, small gasps as she tried to fight through the pain. Taking a deep, shaky breath, she slowly wound the length of gauze around her abdomen, making a rather crude wrapping in the process and pulling it as tightly as she could. Once she was done, she let her arms relax for a moment, her eyes closing momentarily as she fought to stay conscious.

She could just sleep here... That thought crossed her woozy mind, but she fought to open her eyes, knowing she had to keep going. If she stayed here, she was likely to be found by Grimm, and at least if she were in civilization, she'd only have people to worry about... And, if she got lucky, perhaps a Faunus would show her a little sympathy. But for now, she just needed a minute to rest, before she'd get up and get going again.

Show Yourself Word Count: 710 / Tag: SaskaThe Mistral swamplands were most certainly not a place for the faint of heart, nor were they for those severely lacking in experience and proper skill. The marshes were a dangerous place that held a variety of perils around every corner, from nightmarish monsters to Hunters who had long since fallen from grace. Additionally the Grimm that roamed these parts were much more aggressive than their brethren that resided elsewhere in the kingdom. So in short, one needed to be a skilled combatant in order to ensure their own safe passage through the swamp lest they find themselves in grave danger. Luckily for Soren that was exactly what she was; a Huntress who would not be so easily felled by the creatures of Grimm or the dishonorable folk who ventured the territory.Presently Soren was out traversing the swamp area during the hour of mid-afternoon. Her gray cape billowed behind her in the traveling breeze as she walked along and her hair in turn unwillingly catered to the light touch of the wind. She wasn't quite sure how long she'd been out there ambling through the wilderness, but if she could've taken a guess she'd have said it was little more than an hour.So far the young lady's trek had been uneventful, but like all Hunters who had been at this profession for as long as she had Soren knew that could change at the drop of a hat. Which was why the faunus kept vigilant. Her heightened senses were focused in on her surroundings and her keen eyesight scoured the environment ahead in search of enemies. As of that precise moment she'd yet to come across a single soul. Not even a Grimm had crossed paths with her, something she considered both a blessing and an unfortunate turn of events. She could've done with a quick battle to get her blood pumping.Anyhow, Soren groaned irritably when her left foot suddenly sank down into a puddle that was much deeper than previously thought. An eye-roll paired with a colorful mumble beneath her breath followed and she quickly moved to pull her boot out from the depth of the muddy water. In the midst of doing so, her blue-gray eyes promptly took notice of a red splotch staining the ground below. "What the hell?" The maiden voiced silently. Upon close observation and the sharp scent it emanated, the avian faunus knew right away that what she was looking at was in fact blood, and not even a spot of blood either, but a trail. With her foot now free, Soren knelt down and traced a finger through the crimson stain that stood out starkly against everything around her. It was still wet, which told her the trail was fresh. Someone or something had recently left those drops of blood in their wake, which only begged the question; if death hadn't yet already claimed them, where were they now?Setting out to find an answer to this newly formed question, Soren stood upright and began following the path that had been left behind. She was well aware that she could've been walking blindly into a trap but was also confident enough in her abilities to know that if such a possibility proved true, she could handle herself. After a few seconds had become a few minutes, she found herself nearing an enormous tree and slowed her stride. The trail continued forward but vanished behind a split she couldn't fully see past due to the sheer size of the tree's roots. She could only suspect that whoever -- as she had come to the conclusion that a person had to have left behind the bloody trail -- had been injured was hiding among those roots."Look, whoever you are I already know you're there." Soren called out as she gave pause but a few feet away. "So why don't you just stop hiding already and come on out, slowly. I don't wanna have to hurt you if I don't have to, especially since it already seems like you are. I found a trail of blood that led me here which I'm only assuming is yours. I'm not here to hurt you... well, unless you try and do something stupid first. Word of advice; don't."NOTES: Dear god this is longer than i thought it was gonna be orz. OWL

Aiuya was trying to even out her breathing, forcing away the pain that tugged at her and trying to focus on her surroundings. She knew she didn't have too far before she reached one of the local villages, and perhaps there they'd have a doctor of some sort... Or at least someone that could patch her up. But a voice alerted her to her surroundings, a voice that was calling out to her. It sounded... Familiar, in a sense. It couldn't have been White Fang, though; the way she talked, it was as if she wanted to help, not hurt. Aiuya couldn't place the source, but it immediately snapped her to attention, her fight-or-flight response kicking in as she contemplated her next move. She could run, but it wasn't likely she'd get far. She could fight, but even that could be problematic. Her Aura had partially recovered, which meant she could use her Semblance, but as soon as she lost that bit... Well, it would be over. She could create enough of a distraction to escape... Or she could sit here quietly, wait, and catch them in a surprise assault.

Or, perhaps... Maybe they could help her. If they wanted to, they could help her get to the next town and get the medical attention she needed... And she could be on her merry way. But she had to be prepared for anything. Taking a steadying breath, she pressed one hand to her wound, keeping pressure on it to lessen the bleeding as much as she could. The other hand raised, ready to begin channeling her Semblance if she needed it to escape, and she painfully rose to her feet, remaining hidden behind the tree as her vision swam from the pain. God damn it, she thought to herself, willing her vision to focus as she stepped around the tree.. and stopped dead when she saw a familiar face.

Soren.

"Soren," she breathed, her voice almost inaudible as she began slowly backing away. Now she was really caught between a rock and a hard place, and she wasn't wholly sure she was going to get out of this one. She either had to choose between the White Fang... or her former teammate. That left her only one option, as far as she could tell.

She had to keep running.

Taking advantage of what was likely the momentary shock on her former teammate's face, Aiuya panicked and turned on her heel, weaving her way through the trees as she ran. Her vision wasn't clear by any means, and she seemed to sway periodically as she ran, her heart pumping her blood faster than it really should have. She looked down at her side; it was periodically dripping blood, still leaving a trail behind. She pressed at it harder, feeling the pain as she did so, and her vision blackened just for a second; she could see stars from the pain, and as her vision cleared, she failed to notice the root directly in front of her. Her foot caught on it, and she flew forward, both hands -- one clean, the other bloodied -- reaching forward to break her fall. It half-worked, and she rolled on her shoulders, rolling sideways as she eventually came to a stop. Her weapon flew off its position on her back, landing somewhere nearby as Aiuya coughed, the impact knocking the air from her lungs.

Damn it, she thought to herself. Just my luck... She just had to hope Soren had the same mercy that she had that day... and that her old friend wasn't in a mood for vengeance today.

Unexpected Meeting Word Count: 614 / Tag: SaskaIf the phrase 'everything happens for a reason' was meant to be proven true by this unexpected meeting than the situation currently playing out brought truth to the old proverb. However, what that reasoning actually might have been had still yet to be discovered, left to be unveiled by the only two who could come across such a revelation. Would it merely involve a hand offered in kind to bestow aid to a person in need, or cruel vengeance exacted upon one deemed worthy of it? Only time was the possessor of such knowledge, and it wasn't exactly forthcoming about what was to be.The very instant Soren heard clear signs of movement coming from around the tree did her hand draw near her weapon and her body fall into stance. She had no idea what lay in wait for her once the stranger stepped foot out into the open and so, she kept herself poised for action in the event that shit went down. However, what the Huntress hadn't been expecting was a face from the past, a face from her past."Soren?" She heard her name breathed, and time came to a halt as her eyes beheld Aiuya Mitsukai within their grasp. Her mouth went slightly agape while colored orbs of blue broadened at the sight, but before she could do much of anything else save for stare in utter shock, Aiuya turned tail and made a run for it. Her hurried steps were marked with a desperate sort of urgency as if her life depended on escaping right that very second, and given the current situation, perhaps it did. Perhaps her life was well and truly at risk of being snuffed out, and by a former friend no less. After the swift moment of a heartbeat had come and gone, Soren broke out of her transfixed state. Movement returned to her limbs once more as she looked off in the direction Aiuya had disappeared and she suddenly took to the sky, her wings snapping out from behind her to lift her rapidly through the air. She flew into the beyond ahead in swift pursuit of the other woman and a sharp gaze searched the ground below, intent as ever to spot any signs of the would-be escapist. It was during this time that the hunt began that Soren's mind fully realized just who it was she was giving chase to. This wasn't just some miscreant she'd happened across at random. This was Aiuya Mitsukai, a past companion turned traitor when she'd committed the ultimate betrayal and attacked her friends. Aiuya Mitsukai; the one responsible for the additional battle scars Soren wore upon her body. Aiuya Mitsukai; ...the murderer of CMSN's team leader and another of their own.It took all of three minutes for the wounded damsel to come into view, but once she did Soren didn't waste any time at all getting down to business. She quickly made her descent back to the swamp floor below and stormed over to where Aiuya had fallen... before she then proceeded to send her foot colliding harshly into her uninjured side and forcefully turn her over to face her. If it wasn't obvious enough that the avian faunus was extremely pissed off, it was certainly made crystal clear the very second she brought her foot down onto her former comrade's throat and applied pressure. Soren gave no indication of relenting as she held the woman beneath her boot and spoke not a word. Instead a deadly silence paired with a quiet fury that raged deep inside her eyes was all that she offered as she glared down at Aiuya with a hateful expression. NOTES: Soren's an angry bird right now, but don't worry, she's obviously not gonna kill her. OWL

Her vision was swimming from the fall. She didn't have the same pressure applied to her wound as before, so she knew it was bleeding; her body weight on it wouldn't be enough to keep it from doing so. The longer she drew this time out, the more of a chance there was she'd bleed out... And that alone would spell the end of her. Her breath came in shallow gasps, each one causing a sharp pain in her side as she inhaled, then exhaled, forcing herself to breathe. Her body wasn't getting much oxygen that way, she knew, but it was the best she could muster with the extent of her injuries.

She could hear movement, and her mind was screaming at her body to move, that she was in danger.... Everything. But she couldn't muster the strength to do so; she got nearly to her hands and knees before a boot collided with her uninjured side, a weak cry escaping from the injured faunus. She was knocked on to her back again, her bloodied hand once again putting pressure on her wound, until the same boot was pressed to her throat... Enough to make it difficult to breathe, though it was clear it wasn't enough to kill her. Weakly, she tried to push at it with her free hand, then finding that wasn't working, she weakly pushed at it with both, though it was of no use; she didn't have the strength to pry it off.

If she wasn't gasping for air before, then she definitely was now with the added pressure.

"If... you're going to kill me, then at least make it swift," she choked out between attempts for air, seeing blackness on the edge of her vision again. She'd lost a lot of blood already trying to flee, and laying here... she hardly had the adrenaline to fight back. "Unless you want me to bleed to death... in which case, I'm not telling you a damn thing." She was sure Soren wanted answers for what had happened, but she was also pissed off, scared, and bleeding to death. If Soren wanted answers, she'd at least have to work for them, and if she wanted her dead? Well, at least she'd be spared the pain of slowly dying, and it would likely be over a lot more swiftly.

Of course, her moment of confidence was short-lived, as her form went limp, slumping in a half-faint as her eyes closed. Her breathing was laboured, and the gauze was continuing to darken on her side. She wouldn't have much time left at this rate... and without help, she wasn't likely to make it very far.

Wakey Wakey Word Count: 584 / Tag: Saska"If I were gonna kill you you can be for damn certain I wouldn't make it swift!" was what Soren would have said had Aiuya not fallen into the realm of unconsciousness. Instead the pinkette released a loud voice of irritation and drew her foot back from the others motionless body. "Fucking damn it!" Sounded promptly from her lips followed by the slam of her fist into the nearest tree. As much as Aiuya's fall from reality had been expected given her overall state, it still pissed her off to no end that it had happened in the first place. There was so much she had wanted to say, so much anger she still had left to burn through and now it'd all have to wait. Soren's main priority was making sure Aiuya got out of this alive, and that meant finding her the proper medical attention. However, seeing as their current location was none other than the swamplands of Mistral, that would prove to be no easy task. Any practitioner found around these parts would no doubt be shady and charge an obscene amount. But that was nothing a good ol' fashioned threat couldn't fix. Soren knelt down beside Aiuya and quickly picked her up within her arms, and for a moment as she stood upright again she glared down at the indisposed woman with a flash of ire darting across her face. A part of her still couldn't believe she was actually going through all this trouble to help a killer, but as Aiuya had stated beforehand she needed to if she wanted any hope of finding answers to questions she'd long since had. Soren gave a derisive scoff. This had better be fucking worth it. Hours had progressed onward until the time of afternoon had become evening and daylight began fading from the world. The sun held firm at the horizons edge and painted the lower skies with a dazzling coalescence of red and orange; the colors of fire. It was an appropriate fit as the sun-touched tints all but matched the emotion that seethed deep within Soren, whom of which was presently sitting before an occupied bed, waiting for the eyes of the enemy to open. The arctic faunus had flown with all the swiftness of the wind earlier on as she knew time had been of the essence if she wanted to keep Aiuya from dying. Exsanguination had been a real looming threat at that point but been cast aside once Soren had found help in a nearby village. The healer she had come across certainly hadn't been of honorable merit and almost denied her service outright due to her 'lack of sufficient funds.' But that immediately changed once she'd given voice to a threatening remark that involved breaking every bone in his body if he refused. In short, he'd done his job and patched up Aiuya with a surprising finesse that belied his whereabouts and sent the Huntress on her way. After that she'd made her way to an inn and paid for a room, where she and her reacquainted friend now were in.Aiuya was resting in the lone bed in the room, fast asleep while Soren watched on for any signs that she might be stirring. She'd woken up every now and again during their time at the healer, coming in and out of consciousness at random intervals but had yet to fully awaken. It was only a matter of time however before she did.NOTES: Hope this works for you~ OWL

She could vaguely tell she was being moved. Part of her had hoped that Soren would just leave her to die; then she could at least make the valid effort of attempting to get herself help. However, it seemed Soren didn't want to let her die... At least not yet, anyway. She'd have to make sure that Soren knew that killing her wouldn't amount to any sort of revenge. A life for a life was a terrible price to pay; there was enough death in the world. But even Aiuya wasn't sure what she'd say to Soren when she was more inclined to speak.

She'd have plenty of time to contemplate that in the time she was unconscious. She could feel herself slipping in and out, the sound of voices -- one of a familiar, angry faunus -- as her wounds were bandaged, along with a blood transfusion to replace the blood she'd lost. At some point, she completely lost consciousness, her Aura knocking her cold as it did its work to help mend her wounds. It was at the inn, however, that she could feel herself fading back in, though her eyes did not open. She used the rest of her senses to pick out her surroundings. She could feel heavy blankets and a comfortable bed. That meant it wasn't some sort of a hospital, but an inn. She could feel a dull ache in her side, and her arm had the same; but they also felt tight, meaning they'd been treated and covered. She could smell food, likely from downstairs, which gave a further indication that it was an inn.

She couldn't hear anyone nearby, or at least not the sounds of snoring or deep, heavy breathing present in sleep. That meant if Soren was around, she was wide awake, or something along those lines, at least. Aiuya had no idea where her weapons were, if they were even in the room; she'd been carrying them, which meant they were likely in the room somewhere. If she needed to escape, she'd have mere seconds to get to her weapon.

A groan came from the woman as she stirred, her eyes fluttering and blinking away the blurriness of sleep. Her senses were on high alert, though if her vision would clear, then.... Well, she had nothing to worry about. If she was out cold, Soren wasn't likely to kill her. In fact... The fact that she'd got medical attention meant that her faunus friend wanted answers more than anything, and not necessarily to kill her. Soren had every opportunity to take Aiuya's life, and she hadn't. Instead, she'd helped. Aiuya figured... If she was willing to help, then the bat faunus would be willing to give answers.

She reached for the mattress with her good hand, bracing herself as she tried to pull herself up, her face contorting into a mask of pain as she did so. Movement hurt, more than what she'd expected; clearly, her wounds had been much more severe than she'd thought. At least you're alive, she thought to herself as she painstakingly pushed herself into a sitting position, readjusting the pillows with her good hand as she bit back a cry of pain, her breathing tense. Her vision swam for just a moment, and she thought she might pass out from the sheer pain; before, adrenaline had been the only thing keeping her from succumbing to it, but now... Well, she didn't have adrenaline on her side, unfortunately.

"Something tells me the last thing on your mind is killing me," she said, trying to sound confident, but her voice came out hoarse and weak. "Whatever questions you have, ask them quickly. Can't be here long, or they'll find both of us," she added, inhaling and releasing the breath slowly as she tried to ignore the pain. Damn, this was going to be difficult. If the White Fang found them... Well, Aiuya herself wouldn't be much help, and she wasn't about to get Soren wrapped up in this. She'd already tangled with the White Fang once, at the end of Aiuya's blade. The last thing she needed was being associated with a runaway from the Fang.

Questions Asked Word Count: 390 / Tag: SaskaThe time it took for sleeping beauty to arouse from her slumber was not long at all and soon Soren found herself face to face with her past comrade at last. Her fingers dug deep into her arms from where they were crossed over her body and her jaw tightly clenched. Just the image of her alone was enough to incite her rage and the woman took in a breath, calming the vengeful flame into a simmer as it had threatened to erupt the moment Aiuya drew out of her deep sleep. "Calm the hell down, Soren." The avian internally scolded, and although her anger was every bit as warranted as she felt it was, the pressure of nails digging into skin lessened as the Huntress calmed herself further. "Don't, try telling me what's on my mind because there is still plenty of time for that to change. I could still kill you right here, right now if I damn well wanted to. So keep that in mind." Came the blunt remark Soren delivered after Aiuya's opening comment, and it was true. She could have easily made good on her threat and killed her at some point in time, but whether or not that was a course of action she intended to follow through with rather than being just mere talk was not yet known. Now given the chance to finally speak her mind, Soren was momentarily at a loss. There were so many questions that danced around at the tip of her tongue, waiting to be voiced in their verbal choreography before they disappeared just as quickly as they had come. To choose the very first question was not an easy task, but there was one that stood out above the rest, one question she'd sought an answer to ever since that day had befallen. The faunus grew quiet from where she sat, back straight against the chair and arms still crossed. Her face was entirely devoid of all compassion as she offered only an expression of cold stoicism and her blue hues never once relented in their brutal stare. Then finally, she asked."Why?" Soren began with a deadly sort of calm. "Why did you attack us Aiuya? Why did you go after CMSN? Did you want to see your own team, your friends, dead at your feet?"NOTES: Fiiinally got this posted. Aiuya shouldn't have been surprised that Soren chose to ask the hardest question first. The question that Aiuya herself knew she didn't have a straight answer for. She couldn't give a real reason... Other than the fact that like many others, she'd been brainwashed into the strange, cult-like nature of the White Fang. She'd been told that what they were doing was okay. She'd shut herself down for the sake of their 'cause', seeing humans as a blight on what the faunus deserved so much. Part of her had still remained that day, as she'd spared Soren's life, but... There was still no real answer for that question. Pushing herself painfully into a sitting position, Aiuya's ears tuned to the area around them, and she sat there silently, making absolutely sure they were not likely to be overheard.

"Typical, Soren. Always asking the hardest questions first," she quipped, though it was a rather weakly-humoured one at that. She knew where she could start, but it would be a spiel. Soren would want her to get to the point, but hopefully her faunus friend would be quiet and patient long enough for the story to happen. She hadn't told Soren exactly why she'd become part of the Fang, or why she spent so much time taking care of her sister.

She hadn't told Soren that one of her parents had been human, the other a faunus.

"I'll... start from the beginning. And as much as I don't have the right to ask this... I'm going to ask anyway. For the sake of the parties involved, please, Soren... Don't breathe a word of what you hear to anyone.

"You know I was born in Vacuo. What you don't know is that only my mother was a faunus. My father... was human,"
she began quietly, knowing it would take her a hell of a long time to get to the point, but she needed to tell the story anyway. Otherwise... She wouldn't have any basis for her reasoning. "During the war, my parents were separated. The faunus wanted nothing to do with my father, as they didn't want an untrustworthy human among their ranks; and on the flipside, my mother and I were both faunus, meaning they wanted to segregate us like the rest. Needless to say, after the war was concluded, things were.... Different. As a child, my mother and I were part of the Fang. We advocated for faunus rights, we fought for what we believed in, and we participated in every rally the Fang held.

"My father was reunited with us, and my mother gave birth to twins."
She let that sink in. "Hana, my younger, faunus sister... and Yuuka, her human twin sister." That was the changing point. Aiuya would have never mentioned Yuuka once, not by name or anything. "I was twelve, just a few years shy of starting at Shadow, and now I had two sisters I had to take care of. I had to grow strong, and become a Huntress, so I could protect them." Her hands clasped into fists, gripping at the blankets as her knuckles turned white from the strain, her voice wavering.

"Faunus were never accepted completely into Remnant's society, and... One night, someone wanted to make sure that no human could be associated with a faunus again. At night, two intruders broke into our home. They kidnapped Yuuka, right from her crib. She was only four months old. My parents were fighting them, and I watched from my room... And they shot my mother. Right in front of me. Those damn selfish humans stole my baby sister and killed my mother. And after my mother's funeral... My father left. He said nothing. He didn't even leave a note. He was a Huntsman, and he took everything he knew with him when he left. He abandoned me with Hana, and at thirteen years old... I had to take care of her. We had money, and food; that much was possible. But that's why.... at Shade, that's why I missed so many classes. I was at home, taking care of my sister, making sure she was all right, while studying for my classes and learning to be a huntress." She hadn't realized she was crying until now, and furiously wiped at the tears that had welled in her eyes.

"Of course... Hana and I both stayed with the Fang. They took care of us; they gave us food, clothing, anything we needed to survive. I was old enough, but I couldn't make enough money off missions in school, so without their help... We'd have probably both starved, or lost our house, or... a number of other things. I became dedicated to the Fang. I helped organize rallies, directed our members... all of those things. And then, the leadership changed. They needed help... The Faunus needed a way to defend themselves, and I... I couldn't abandon the Fang. They'd helped me and my sister survive all of these years." She shook her head.

"It didn't matter that it was my teammates I was fighting that day, Soren. I... I have no excuses for what I've done. Reasons... they don't equate to excuses. I shut down that day... I turned everything off, for the sake of the Fang that kept me and my sister alive all of these years. I helped to bring attention to the faunus, though I know now it wasn't out of respect, but out of fear." Her grip weakened on the blankets. She didn't know what to say to Soren. In fact, she had no real words she could say... except one.

"I'm sorry, Soren... But there is no reason. I didn't go after CMSN specifically, just... both of us were in the wrong place at the wrong time. It wouldn't have mattered if it was my team, or someone else. The outcome... would have still been the same." That she knew wasn't totally true. A part of her knew she'd spared Soren for two reasons: because Soren was a faunus, and because Soren was her comrade. Her partner. Her friend. But she wouldn't let on to that just yet.

Anger Unleashed Word Count: 903 / Tag: Saska"Yeah, guess I'm just funny like that." Soren spoke humorlessly in return to Aiuya's weak quip. After that the winged beauty became hushed and Aiuya began her tale, not a sound escaping her from where she was seated. The entire story involved painful experiences and horrible events just the same as any tragic history of the faunus went. Because sad as it was to say, many of the faunus people had endured a great deal of heartache and suffering as a result of the animal blood they had flowing in their veins. Soren herself had gone through troubling times in the past. But it was not the painful memories Aiuya spoke of that had come as a surprise to her. It was the fact that her story had been detailed with things she hadn't ever known about. Like the true nature of her parents race, or more still, that there had been another daughter among the Mitsukai household. Hana she had known about from prior conversation, but the twin sister she supposedly had was a distinct piece of info she had never been made aware of, until now.The tale continued on and suddenly took a very dangerous shift, or rather it wandered toward an issue that made Soren stiffen. The mention of the White Fang and... team CMSN; it was enough of a sore topic that she felt that angry beast inside of her slowly begin to awaken, the creature twisting its maw into a vicious snarl as it moved to claw its way out, to free itself. Soren's eyes quickly shut themselves closed and she found herself breathing heavily. She was just barely holding onto the leash she'd been trying to keep her temper on. Finally with the end of Aiuya's dialogue, the feathered woman made her gaze known again and went to speak. "So let me get this straight." She began slowly, elbows braced against her knees as her hands were clasped firmly before her face. Her stormy irises didn't even dare look up at Aiuya and instead were focused intently on the floor. "What you're trying to tell me is that you attacked your own teammates for no reason other then that we just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time?" A brief pause before she carried on. "That because you owed it to the White Fang for all the wonderful shit they did for you and Hana, you just, shut yourself down... and murdered our leader and fellow comrade?" Yet another pause, longer this time... then rage. With a furious yell Soren bolted up from out of her chair and threw it directly at Aiuya. If she managed to duck in time to escape harms way, the chair would've completely smashed into pieces the moment it hit the wall behind her. But Soren wasn't done just yet. She immediately stormed over to the bed in front of her and grasped it from underneath, her semblance already activated. After that, if the other woman were still sitting there, Aiuya would feel herself tumbling backward off the bed as the enraged falcon lifted up the one side with little to no effort before turning around and proceeding to destroy it entirely. Soren angrily smashed the bed once, twice, thrice against the now cracked floor, pieces cascading all around until she sent it flying toward Aiuya. Despite all the noise that was currently being made, not a single soul came running over to find out what the hell was going on. "No matter what you hear coming from this room, do not come up. Ignore it, and better yet, forget it altogether." Guess her words and the extra bit of lien she'd given the innkeeper earlier on were paying off. "That is bullshit!" Soren shouted the same moment she whirled around to face Aiuya again. "Don't give me that 'I couldn't abandon them' crap because that is bull-fucking-shit!" A nearby floor lamp unfortunately met its end at her hands as she grabbed It and snapped it in two against her leg like it was nothing but a twig. And of course, just like the two previous times, she threw those broken pieces. However this time around she purposely missed Aiuya and instead impaled them on either side of the faunus' head. The wall fractured from the force and became spiderwebbed with cracks that kept growing and growing until they finally stopped, the wall almost covered thoroughly in angled lines. If Soren didn't put a lid on her temper fast, she was going to quite literally destroy the room. So she reined it in as best she could. "You're trying to leave now, aren't you!? So at some point, at some time, you must've realized that what you and your fucking friends were doing, was wrong! So you could have left, you just didn't want to. Besides," And here came the really important part. Her tone softened a degree, became less fierce and even tight with emotion as Soren voiced what she intended to. "If you needed help, if you needed anything at all you could've just come to your team, Aiuya. We would've helped. We would've done everything we could so that you wouldn't have needed to continue getting help from the Fang. Because you don't owe them jack shit, especially with the path they're on now." Soren's eyes darkened. "The same path you chose."NOTES: Sorry this took 10ever OWL

Soren was pissed. Aiuya expected that much. She'd already scoped the room for her possible escape routes, depending on how Soren reacted; but she knew the girl's temper, and it wasn't likely to be pretty. She'd just forgotten how volatile the faunus could be, and when Soren was calm, Aiuya found herself terrified. But she'd hit the nail on the head; except for one small detail, of course. At the time, Aiuya had thought it was the right thing to do. She thought she was doing the world a service. And she'd shut down for just that reason... Thinking that it was a necessity, that it was for the greater good of the Faunus population, and a whole lot of other convoluted reasons.

She knew now that they were wrong. Atonement was going to be the next step... whenever she had the opportunity to get that far. She saw the chair coming; she narrowly avoided it, flattening herself out on the bed as she felt a shot of pain in her side. But she was too slow for what came next; she found herself tumbled off of the bed, landing with a hard thud on the floor as she rolled toward the wall. Soren had the bed in her hands, smashing it to pieces as a pained Aiuya watched from the sidelines, cringing at each strike. Then the pain resurfaced, and Aiuya found herself on her knees, one arm clutching across her chest, the other covering her mouth as she coughed hard, the sound wracking the room among the yelling.

But she let Soren yell. She deserved it. She'd done it herself, yelling and screaming at herself every day. She'd even said a lot of the same words, though perhaps not with the same level of rage. Another cough, this one a little more wet, and she could practically smell the blood. Whether it was some she'd coughed up, or because her wound had reopened, she wasn't entirely sure, but she knew none of it was good. Too much longer, and she'd be on the run again, that much was for certain.

"It's not..." Another cough. "It's not that simple, Soren," she said weakly, her voice hoarse. "I was always a part of the Fang. It wasn't always so bad." A harder cough this time, and she felt a few seconds of dizziness. "They raised us, Soren. Our mother died, our sister was gone, our father left us... I was the only person Hana had left, and the Fang helped us. Some days, we would have starved if not for them. We'd have lost our home. We'd have been on the streets." Tears were in her eyes now. "There's no way to describe how much we do owe them for that." Shakily, she rose to her feet, bracing herself against the wall as her legs threatened to give out on her.

"It started out simple. They wanted a defense force for the faunus, to protect those exposed to violence at the hands of humans.... To protect people in situations like mine and Hana's. So we trained people. We taught them to use their Aura, their Semblances, to use weapons, all for the sake of defense. And then it became more... We'd attack places like the Schnee Dust Company, places that would use faunus labour, and we'd rescue our comrades. It was a gradual descent, and every step along the way, we thought we were doing something good. We thought that we were helping the faunus... And to a degree, we were." There was more to the situation than Soren could see.

"But now... There's more to it now. It's not just the White Fang causing destruction, it's.... others. Roman Torchwick is another name. He's responsible for some of the attacks in Vale, and for a lot of the destruction there, too. I wasn't there, thankfully... But it's not so simple as to say I chose this path. I chose to help the faunus.... but what we were doing isn't the right way to help them.

"And leaving... Leaving isn't as simple as you think, Soren. Why do you think you caught me running for my life? Bleeding to death in the middle of the Swamplands? Running scared, terrified, paranoid as hell, feeling like any moment the Fang could burst through that door and kill both of us without a second thought? Or that they could track down Hana, or Yuuka, and..."
She couldn't finish that thought. She knew they were looking for Yuuka already, and she knew that's where Hana had gone. Now she was determined to find Hana, at the very least... and Yuuka, if at all possible.

Whereabouts Word Count: 645 / Tag: SaskaHeart still racing and anger still burning, though at a much more controlled simmer, Soren listened to Aiuya's words and allowed her to continue without interruption. A lot of what the other woman was saying resonated with her and she found herself able to relate at least in some regard. When she had spent those four years of her life out on the streets, roaming aimlessly from place to place in Vacuo she'd had absolutely no one but herself to depend on, no one to help protect her from the perils of the world and the hurt it so cruelly dealt. And for that reason alone did she consider those same four years and the hardships she had endured prior to that at the orphanage to be some of the worst moments of her life. It was only until she'd reached the age of eleven that Soren had been shown the world wasn't as uncaring as she had once believed it to be, and by two humans no less. This gift, the kindness of the Ayano siblings, was why she owed them so much and why she felt an unspeakable amount of loyalty to them just the same as Aiuya did for the Fang. However, with that being said, no amount of loyalty deserved to be returned to another when they began committing horrible atrocities for the sake of revenge, not even after all the acts of kindness they may have shown to those who needed it."I don't fucking give a shit about any of that!" Sor snapped bluntly after everything had been said. It was just like her to get straight to the point without wasting a breath. "I don't care that they raised you and I don't care what you did together to help the faunus. All I do care about is that you understand that regardless of whatever the hell you thought or still think you owe the White Fang, you're done with them, for good. Got it?" The hint of dark menace behind her tone was clear as crystal even without her having made a full threat. But in spite of her words Soren was fairly certain that Aiuya had no desire to return to the group responsible for her current state anyway. She however, had merely wanted to get her point across. A sense of quiet descended upon the gyrfalcon for a moment and she walked over toward the window at the far side of the room, her face a contemplative mask. She didn't say a word but instead focused on the world beyond the glass in front of her. The sun had long since vanished at that point and everything was now cloaked in twilight, its nightly embrace ensnaring all.Soren pressed her hands to the windowsill and exhaled deeply. Her mind was a whirlwind of thought thanks to the mention of Roman and his apparent role in Vale's destruction. Just like a majority of other Huntsmen and Huntresses in Vale she knew of Torchwick. The man was a wanted felon for numerous crimes committed against Vale's law enforcement and so much more. But how would taking part in the havoc of his own criminal turf be of any benefit to him? And how did Aiuya know about this? Had he somehow been involved with the White Fang? The idea seemed unlikely given their hatred for his kind, but who knew what schemes were secretly being plotted right beneath everyone's noses. Either way though, those were questions that would have to wait for a later time, especially since she knew she was far from the only one looking into such matters. She had a different question to ask Aiuya instead."Do you have any idea where Hana or Yuuka might be? Soren asked aloud quietly, back turned to her ex-comrade as she still gazed out the window. "I can't promise for good, Soren. But I can promise you that their questionable acts are not something I will be involved in. I want to stop them. I want them to go back to their roots... even if those roots mean teaching our Faunus comrades how to fight. I can't abandon them when I owe them so much." Siren may not have liked it, but that was the answer she could give. "If you don't like it, then you're a heartless bitch wearing rose coloured glasses." Bold words from someone in her state, but she wanted to get a point across, and that was that Soren needed to use less brute force to get her way. Besides, in the state she was in, she was practically dead on her feet.

"I do have details on Hana's position that I am currently tracking." A simple answer. She was not liable to give any details, even if Soren's intent was to help. "And they are for me to know only. If you want to help that badly, then you'll either have to find my sources or you'll have to stop trying to kill me to get it. Because I will take my sisters' whereabouts to my grave." Arguably, Aiuya had more loyalty to her family than she did her team. And given Soren's reactions, she hadn't earned many points in the department of trust just yet.

Leaning her head back against the wall, Aiuya tried to control her breathing, biting through the pain. Noise outside their door, however, stopped her. No one had dared to come out despite the ruckus just yet, but why now? She listened closely, trying to make out the voices and holding up a hand for Soren to be silent. Had they chased her here already? The panic set in, and Aiuya had the sudden urge to flee right out the window. She made a daring motion toward it, but the pain stopped her mid-stride, and she collapsed to her knees, her vision darkening as it was riddled with stars.

"Damn it," she whispered to no one in particular. "They'll never give up the chase..."

Not So Heartless Word Count: 1049 / Tag: SaskaHer hands quickly rose up from where they had been pressed against the windowsill during her musing and she whirled around to face Aiuya, the stormy seas that were her eyes narrowing with a muted anger. "Fine. You wanna help them go back to what they were before all this then be my fucking guest. Go right ahead." Soren snapped bitterly. "Just make sure you don't go killing anyone for them this time around. I'd hate for somebody else to have to watch the people they care about get murdered right in front of them. Or is that something you only reserve for your team -- sorry -- ex-team?" She wasn't looking for an answer, merely letting her tongue release the barbed words that wanted out in the hopes of cutting deep. Maybe she was being a little harsh, but given the circumstances could anyone blame her? She was conversing with the woman who had taken away the lives of two that had mattered most to her, and when she already didn't have many that she cared about to begin with that pain was made all the worse. Not to mention it stung like a bitch now that Aiuya had decided not to involve herself with the Fang's violent methods anymore. It would've been nice had she come to that same decision two years ago before the death of her team, but the past was the past and no amount of wishing would bring her friends back. They were destined to lay in their graves.Once the inquiry she'd put into question had been responded with by a lack of detail Soren granted a quick scoff its release. "You take that information to the grave and there won't be anyone left to look for them. Besides, you know the type of person I am." She voiced gruffly, tone serious. "I don't harm the innocent. That'd go against everything I stand for as a Huntress. Not to mention what with the resources the White Fang has at their disposal how long do you really think it's gonna take them to find out where your sisters are?" Soren meant to continue further but was left leaving her words unexpressed the moment noise from outside the room reached her ears. Alarm bells immediately went off in her head and she grasped onto the handles of her weapons, swiftly pulling them up out of their sheaths before connecting them to form Talion's staff mode. She gave Aiuya only a glance as the injured faunus made a desperate attempt toward the window and she shook her head, eyes rolling in circles. In the meantime her mind was racing at the looming threat, quickly running through the possible options that could be taken as her next course of action. There really were only two choices here; escape with Aiuya at the risk of being pursued or eliminate the enemy altogether. The decision was pretty clear."You're lucky I'm not really a heartless bitch." Were the last words addressed to Aiuya before Soren crouched down and sprung forward through the air. Her activated semblance lent strength to her legs and she launched herself at the door with rapid speed, the floor now cracked where her feet once had been. The soles of her boots met the door first and promptly broke the wooden barrier off its hinges before it was sent crashing out into the hallway where the enemy dwelled. Unfortunately for one of the White Fang members the door crashed into her with enough force that she flew into the opposite wall with a thud and was momentarily stunned. Taking that brief opportunity with her down, the falcon swiftly maneuvered into a roll the very instant she touched the floor and another of the Fang drew his sword, lashing out where her body was no longer as he'd been too slow to act. Soren began to rise and as she did, she twirled in place and struck the side of her staff into the man's gut hard. Needless to say he was launched down the corridor without much effort.By that point the female White Fang member was up on her feet and made a move to attack Soren from behind. However Soren blocked the incoming sword strike with the shaft of her weapon and knocked her opponent's legs out from underneath her. As she fell, the Huntress quickly reached out and grabbed her by the arm only to send her flying over to where her partner had landed with a strong throw. "Time to finish this."Launching herself forward yet again, the maiden split apart Talion into its two escrima sticks mid-air and activated lightning Dust at the weapons tips just as she landed between the fallen pair, the man with his back against the floor while the woman was attempting to pull herself up. They were close enough to each other that immediately after Soren had landed, she was able to reach out to either side of her and ram the electrified ends of both weapons into their bodies. Screaming ensued at the very moment of contact, but Soren held firm even as they writhed and struggled beneath her. It was only until she was sure their Aura had been depleted entirely that she lifted the escrima sticks, pressed a button to summon blades from their ends, and plunged them down to take their lives once and for all.Without words of any kind, Soren rose to her feet and inspected her surroundings. No one that she could see was anywhere in sight and as she cast out her senses, she couldn't discern the sound of pounding feet approaching either. From that alone Soren gathered that there wouldn't be anyone else from the White Fang to bother them. Good. Only thing left to do now was take care of the dead bodies. So with little effort on her part, the rose-haired faunus carried both of the newly deceased back to the room. "It's done. They're dead." Soren said unnecessarily before disposing them in the corner, her voice quieter now that there no longer was a door. She then turned to face Aiuya. "But even still I don't think it's safe for us to stay here anymore. Unless you have a better idea?"NOTES: Holy fawk, this took so looooong. OWL

Soren had bought Aiuya just enough time to move about the room, getting her bearings even as she moved sluggishly. She strapped her weapon to her back, wincing as her body tried to carry the weight; the adrenaline was beginning to kick in, killing some of the pain she was feeling. She could hear her ragged breathing, but she knew she had to keep going; if she didn't, then she'd be a dead woman, and that was of no use to anyone. Part of her knew Soren wasn't the type to cause problems for Hana or Yuuka, but at the same time.... She didn't want to get Soren involved. Hell, the White Fang already being here was bad enough. But Soren was right -- she wasn't a heartless bitch. And it was for that reason that Aiuya knew she couldn't stick around.

"You're right. It's not safe for us to stay here," she said quietly. A part of her knew that she wasn't going to get far doing what she planned, but she was damn well determined to try. Biting through the pain she knew she was going to feel, she looked directly at Soren, the determination reflected in her eyes. Her Aura snapped up, and she focused harder, focusing only on Soren as she slowly climbed on to the window's ledge.

"I'm sorry, Soren. The Fang won't be far behind me, but I'm in no state to stick around. You'll be fine. But I'm not getting you involved." Her voice was calm and level as her Semblance was taking effect; she forced Soren to stay still, not making a move toward the window. She knew her old teammate would be angry at her for this, but she had to keep her out of things. After all, she hadn't got the hint the first time, when she said she'd take the information to her grave. Soren must not have realized just how serious she was.

And so, keeping her focus as much as she could, she jumped out the window, focusing on her landing. She landed hard on the ground, her Aura taking the brunt of the fall, but keeping her from injuring herself further. Then, focusing on Soren's presence, she quickly backed toward the trees. This would give her a few seconds of a head-start, and although it was paltry,

She was at the edge of the trees when her concentration finally broke, and she took off into a sprint. Adrenaline was getting her somewhere, but she could feel the sharp pain in her side each time she moved. You don't have time to stop, she scolded herself, taking off at a sprint as tree branches whipped in her face. Adrenaline. That was all she had left. She just had to hope Soren wouldn't catch up with her.
