  • About Us
World of Remnant is an AU, post-Volume 3 roleplay. Opened in February of 2016, World of Remnant diverges from the Volume 3 storyline around the Fall of Beacon, with storyline changes that drive our site in a different direction. We constantly update with new canons as they are revealed in the RWBY series, as well as lore updates as we learn more about Remnant's world. We boast an expanded lore and a dedicated administrative team that gives depth to Remnant for a roleplay perspective.

With an 18+ community, World of Remnant boasts an atmosphere of 'quality over quantity' in our apps, posts, and plots; we have no word count, though it is expected that members will post healthy and thorough posts without being locked down by the dreaded 'word count' of their post. With a simplified combat system that uses no stats, World of Remnant remains a story-focused, alternate-universe timeline with RWBY canons and a plethora of original characters.

06.07.2018: After much long and arduous work, World of Remnant has finally revealed its newest skin, called Let's Just Live. The new skin is part of a fresher, more advanced layout compared to our old layout, while still retaining the readability and contrast our other layouts were well-known for. There are three more skins planned for the next series: This Life Is Mine, featuring Weiss Schnee, Like Morning Follows Night featuring Blake, and Armed And Ready featuring Yang. We do not have any tentative release dates for these upcoming skins, but stay tuned for them regardless!

    Current Time
    Remnant's current month is

The second term has begun at all academies, and after a short break between terms, students are gearing up to attend the 41st Vytal Festival. This year, it is hosted on the neutral island of Vytal, as opposed to being hosted in one of the four Kingdoms.

Unaware of his dreaming state, Taupe shivers as a cold sensation washes over his body. He shivers for a moment, and then pinches his eyes as everything before him Is white. He lunges forward to run towards a small heap of snow, laughing happily and two other voices echoing his laughter with their own. A young girl with fluffy feline ears and a simple winter skirt grabs a snowball, laughing as she tosses it to Taupe. Taupe yelps and barely dodges it, retorting verbally in an instant. “You’ll get that back!” He yells in pleasure as he goes for a snowball himself…

The following scene, it was... it was too vague, but there's movement at first. Taupe's vision was moving towards a cream coloured object, about the size of a chair. It stopped next to the object, and looked away from it, into infinite snowy whiteness. Gibberish was traded amongst the characters and the view turned to also show a light peach object, with a Melrose line blurredly running over it.

“They weren’t meant to come. Never forget them…” Taupe heard in his own voice, but it came from somewhere else. The whole world went to white, before fading back into black and the next part of his dream.

-

A feeling of familiarity. A feeling of hecticness, as a vague figure moved past the view, left and right, like an animal searching for prey. Gibberish called out to Taupe, and he replied in turn with his own. He still couldn't see any detail, and occasionally everything became black and just cut to a single blurred image. One time, it cut to a sharp image. Taupe was looking to his mother's side, and asked “Why are we leaving so soon, mama? Can I tell my friends?” and the moment the question was finished, everything lost it's clarity, the whole situation once more becoming a vague slur.

Slight movement happened in the view before him, and with it's indiscernible events, came strange gibberish. It was confusing, everything felt confusing, but before he had a chance to process it, all of a sudden, the world faded away once more.

-

White. Everything was White, Taupe was panting. Slight images bobbed up and down. Taupe was running, running as fast as he could. All the white snow slowly turned red, and darker by the second.
He ran and ran as fast as he could. Gibberish streamed into his mind.. and, it repeated itself? Suddenly, breaking through the gibberish a new moment of clarity dawned upon him. His thought stopped, and he bumped into something. In front of him stood a tall, intimidating figure and Taupe felt pain all over his body. The figure's shape was sharp, but there was no details to recognise it by. And right as those wanted to appear, everything faded more and more. Eventually it became black.

-

In Taupe's mind, his dream had gone blacker than black, an abstract sense or wrongness accompanying the almost lack of visual. small shapes appeared in the black, like soft lights in the distance. their presence kept going further and further away though, and Taupe felt a strong motion of moving back. a feeling of sickness overcame him, and it became worse as the little stars vanished in the black void.

White shapes appeared in the black and moved towards him, remaining still just before him, while more of the little lights vanished in the black void. It didn't move, yet it moved with him at the same time. Gibberish sounded from it, but it was cut off by a horrendous, nauseous feeling. Taupe wanted to barf. In the darkness, suddenly, a voice pierced everything, dispelling everything Taupe saw and felt. It was his own voice, and as clear as day, it said:

“They’re not coming. They’re all gone. They’re all gone all because of me. All because of what I wanted.” Everything went to black.

-

The world as Taupe knew it reasserted itself as the true world, as Taupe awoke in shock. Cold air nipped at Taupe’s skin, and the desert dryness set in. He jolted upright in a confused panic, and shook his head. It was the same dream again, and as blurry and unclear as ever. He stood up and coughed his throat as dry as Vacuo’s cold night sands. He slumped over to his bathroom and put the lights on, running a hand through his chaotic hair and filling himself a glass of water. He looked into the mirror. He was crying, again. Like every time he had this dream. He didn’t know why he was crying though, he didn’t have a clue. He was alive and well. He drank the water and wiped away at his eyes. No time to let it eat away at him now, he had work tomorrow. He went back to his bed with a deep sigh, the mystery still lingering in his thoughts.

Notes:
Ominousness intensifies

It was just another night, but another time of dreaming came. It was only recently that Nebula and Taupe had been in this apartment together. And they had found some sort of keepsake. It made Taupe cry, despite him not understanding it. But his tears had been shed for now, and rest was awaiting him.

-

Taupe shivers as a cold sensation washes over his body.

The fight faded into white and gray introduced itself into taupe’s vision, spot by spot. A crunch carried him up a rock with some snow onto it, and further ontop a Young child with snow white hair, cream lines and large cream coloured Jacket. He climbed up next to him and sat down. The white haired boy spoke: “So you’re going camping soon, right Taupe? That’s so cool!” Which made Taupe nod, before looking to his left and noticing another child, the young feline-eared girl from before, light brown hair, light peachy red skin, a white winter skirt with top a Melrose line vertically running over her top and skirt, matching her eyes. Taupe spoke as she climbed up next to him. “yeah! It’s going to be great, and then you guys are going to come with your families too, and will all play hide and seek and find new places! I can’t wait!” He said with a huge grin on his face, his friends smiling back at him.

“They weren’t meant to come. Never forget them…” Taupe heard in his own voice, but it came from somewhere else. The whole world went to white, before fading back into black.

This time, he didn't need to stand up to tell. The moment his eyes fluttered open, and he could feel the desert dryness on his hands, he could feel his eye's itching and his cheeks feeling wet. He had been crying, again. but more than usual. More had come to him than usual. These.. children. Did he know them? They felt connected to the keepsake he had found today. He sat up and leaned his back against the wall, grabbing a water bottle he kept by the side of his bed nowadays. He wiped his cheeks with nothing but his arms and started drinking from the water bottle. A certain sadness pained his heart. He might even describe it as a morose feeling. Taking another swig from his water bottle, he decided to try and rest again.

Notes:
Literal nightmare fuel.

His dreams had been anything but pleasant lately, and he didn’t expect that to change. But his mind was less in disarray by the day. He started remembering things. Names of his friends. Games they played, together. It had been a long while since the first and second dream happened, the blurry images and odd feelings were still burned into his mind, as if etched with force over all the weapon blueprints he had ever made.
But things felt clearer today. He struggled to fall asleep, this nasty feeling brewing within him, which would only clear up as he lost consciousness.

“They weren’t meant to come. Never forget them…” Taupe heard in his own voice, but it came from somewhere else. The whole world went to white, before fading back into black.

-

Taupe looked as his mother moved hectically, grabbing some food quickly and stuffing it into a knapsack. “Honey, help us prepare for camping, won’t you?” She hurriedly said to Taupe, with a soft kiss on his forehead. He was surprised but nodded. “Okay mama, but I thought we were going next week!” He said, confusedly, although he did start to help packing. His mother gave him instructions, and he asked again “Why are we leaving so soon, mama? Can I tell my friends?” He asked her, because he wanted their families to follow and he wanted to hide in advance so it would be like one big hide and seek game. He had been planning this for very long.

“No sweetie, you can’t tell them anything; otherwise your surprise wouldn’t be very surprising, would it?” She said in the sweetest voice, convincing Taupe. Anger and sadness tinged the air around him, but the scene would fade to the next…
-

He was playing hide and seek with Melrose and Julian, Taupe remembers that much. However, the joyous white snow spread around his home town slowly turned red, the further he ran. He ran and ran and words echoed in his mind, his own voice. He spoke to his own family: “What? We’re leaving now…? But that’s too early! I gotta find my friends first, we were playing hide and seek!”
And that was what he was doing now. The fun search kept devolving and devolving. Black figures started looming over the buildings, but he could not see them, only feel that they were there. He continued running, as thoughts loomed into his mind. They continued to repeat themself. His friends were going to show him the best hiding places, His friends were going to show him the best hiding places, His friends were going to sho-His thought stopped, and he bumped into something. In front of him stood a tall, intimidating figure, everything hurt. Everything is hazy, but as he looked up, he saw his father’s body. Fear, Betrayal, confusion tugged at his heart like demons trying to tug at flesh. The red snow became black, although some spots of red remained inside of it.
-

He was swept away, and was being carried by his stomach, in the opposite direction he saw eyes and frowns, tears slowly pouring from the eyes as they got further and further away. They were both far away, and yet Taupe could see every single detail in them. And the furthest eyes suddenly relaxed, dilated. Blood covered one eye, and their mouths hung open, for just a second. And then the whole face vanished, as if pulled into the blackness
The silence was suddenly replaced with the howling of beowolves, which echoed out to Taupe’s ears, He reached out towards the strange faces far away and they reached out back, pale hands raising out of nowhere to extend to him. But before Taupe could reach the first arm, he heard a shout in the voice of a friend. Two Melrose eyes stared into his, before vanishing, the arm he had barely missed limply hanging from a fanged maw. Nothing could touch Taupe, nothing could come close, but he was carried away further and further by the second. He felt powerless, but the true horror didn’t shoot into him until a Grimm walked up to him and although he was moving, the Grimm stood perfectly still, and kept equally far away from him. It opened its horrible mouth and in a horrible, guttural but apparently satisfied sound. “Thank you for the meal…Foolish Child…” the words rung everywhere and suddenly Taupe didn’t feel powerless, but he felt horrible. Wrong, evil. He felt like a betrayer. His own voice, suddenly as clear as day spoke out to him.
“They’re not coming. They’re all gone. They’re all gone all because of me. All because of what I wanted.” Everything went to black.
-

His eyes snapped open. This time, he wasn’t crying. Not a single tear graced his face. Rather in an instant, he was scowling. Confused anger and fury went over him. No wonder these memories had been so important. No wonder he had forgotten them. And to think, he never figured anything out as a child. And here he was, waking up, remembering everything clearly. He put himself up in upright position and sat, letting his legs fall off the side of the bed to touch the ground. Everything made him angrier by the second, he could hardly control all these swelling memories and feelings within him.

His modern self, his powerful imagination and visualizing had changed him. Had changed his dream. things he wouldn't dare think of when he was young. people being ripped apart by grimm right in front of him. He had dreamed of it all, that horrible feeling of blaming yourself, and watching your friends die. And knowing that your whole youth was destroyed completely by Grimm. It pained him to have remembered all this, but he knew it was important now he was old enough to understand it... But the unpleasant experiences still lead to more unpleasantry in his own toilet.

Now that his memories were back, he realized it was the time to act.
